Summer Kicks off with ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ for Barnardos

Select Hotels launched the summer with details of their nation-wide Teddy Bears Picnic.  This family day out will be hosted in Select Hotels across the country on Sunday, 24^th June.  Proceeds raised from teddy bears bought on the day will go to Barnardos, Ireland’s leading children’s charity.

The event, which will take place in 12 hotels, is expected to host 1500 children and their families, who will enjoy an afternoon of activities, treats and family fun events.  Specially selected Barnardos Bears will be on sale on the day for 10 euro.  The proceeds of every bear sold will go to the children’s charity.  For a list of participating hotels please visit www.selecthotels.ie

Ruth Guy, Barnardos’ Director of Fundraising and Marketing, said, “We hope that families enjoy the Teddy Bears Picnic and bring a bear home.  Every bear adopted on the day will contribute 10 euro to Barnardos.  It’s a novel way for families to spend a fun day together and, at the same time, help other families in Ireland.”

She added, “We work in over 30 Barnardos Centres in marginalised communities across Ireland.  We support families to improve parenting skills and tackle issues of poverty, domestic abuse, addiction and the impact these problems have on children.  The funds we raise are vital to help us continue our work.”

Outlining what families might look forward to at the national Teddy Bears Picnic, Patricia Coughlan, Managing Director, of Select Hotels, said, “Select Hotels of Ireland along with its members are delighted to be supporting Barnardos, Irelands leading children’s charity.”
