Nenagh Heritage Centre
Nenagh Heritage centre is located in two stone Georgian buildings which were built in 1840-1842 as the Governor’s house and gatehouse of an extensive goal complex for North Tipperary.
The present massive tower was originally one of three towers interspersed in the curtain wall of a strong Norman Castle. The castle was founded by Theobold Walter in the first twenty years of the 13th Century.
South of Nenagh offers a panoramic view of the surrounding scenic countryside- lakes, mountains, rivers and valleys. Keeper hill is the highest mountain in the Silvermines area and the 117th highest in Ireland.
The Dromineer Bay of Lough Derg is only 10km north-west of Nenagh. Lough Derg is a beautiful lake in the West of Tipperary. It offers crusing, sailing, fishing and other water activities
