Families are always welcome at the Westgrove Hotel. We appreciate that family breaks are times when families have fun together and memories are made. But giving the kids and ‘grown ups’ time for themselves is also important. That is why we have created The Groovies Kids Club! This new and exciting departure for the Westgrove Family Hotel will see kids have hours of fun each day while Mum and Dad enjoy some well earned free time for themselves.
Kids club and hotel family facilities
The Groovies operates during the main school holidays and midterms and it runs for 4 hours every day, morning and evening, thereby giving the parents a chance for some ‘me’ time, while their children are safely entertained. Activities will vary each day, but will be based on the following general activities:
Arts & Crafts
Kids Cookery Classes
Science & Nature Corner
All these are in addition to the fantastic facilities of our leisure club and 20 metre pool.

The Steam Museum
The Steam Museum is located in a fine Victorian gothic building where a wide collection of Early Inventor's models, Scientific Engineering Models, and Historic Works of Mechanical Art are on display. The first railway in Ireland opened way back in 1834, and the network quickly reached nationwide. By 1920 nearly 3,500 miles of track threaded the countryside and no Irish town was more than
10 miles from a railway station showing that Ireland has a deep and vast history in the Railway and Steam Trains. There is also an 18th Century walled garden located beside the Museum and it has been under restoration for the last few years. It has become a relaxed and refreshing area where one can wander or take in a rerfreshment from the nearby Steaming Kettle Tea House and or purchase a Souvenir or Gift from the Gift Shop.
