Kenmare Lace Design Centre
In 1864 the Poor Clare nuns under the leadership of Mother Abbess O'Hagan set upon a practical course to help the needy to help themselves, by establishing an industrial school in the convent building. There, young girls were chiefly employed in producing lace. The tradition of making the beautiful Kenmare Needlepoint lace is still carried out today in the Kenmare Lace and Design Centre. There is an Exhibition of antique lace from the convent as well as demonstrations. Lace and materials can be purchased.

Originally from Lorraine in France and now settled in Kenmare, this award winning chef has created a chocolate lovers paradise. Located about 5km from Kenmare in Bonane this is well worth a visit.
